Incorporating Feng Shui into Your Yard

Introduce feng shui design to the layout of your yard so it can carry energy into your residence.

When introducing feng shui design into your yard, even a very small area works. A sizeable space is great for those privileged enough to have it, but a smaller area can still be useful in feng shui design.

The same tools you employ to include feng shui design into your living space can be used in the garden. The first part is to understand the bagua, or energy map, of your home, as your garden’s bagua will be an extension of that.

It is also important to know the five elements in the theory of feng shui and how best to use each one to make the most of its energy.

The Earth element, for example, should be integrated in the northeast section of your garden which is linked to the personal growth and self-cultivation energy in feng shui design. This could be the perfect place to put a meditative Zen garden with some alluring stones because these represent the Earth element in feng shui.

Give some thought to introducing a water feature into these feng shui areas: East (health & family), North (career & path in life), or Southeast (money and abundance).

The Newest Addition to the Gardens of Chatsworth: Revelation

The well-known UK sculptor Angela Conner created the Chatsworth ornamental exterior water feature called “Revelation.”

She was delegated by the late 11th Duke of Devonshire to produce a limited edition bust of Queen Elizabeth, in 2004/5 in celebration of the Queen’s 80th birthday celebration. Jack Pond, one of Chatsworth’s most venerable ponds, had “Revelation” put up in 1999. It takes on the form of four big flower petals crafted of metal which open and closes with the water movement, alternatively hiding and displaying a golden globe at the sculpture’s center. A gold dust decorated metal globe was manufactured and included to the big sculpture standing five meters high and five meters in width. This newest water fountain is an exciting and interesting addition to the Gardens of Chatsworth, unique in that the motion of the flower petals is totally driven by water.
