The Many Material Options for your Wall Water Feature

When you are looking for a strong, light, waterproof material, fiberglass is your best choice. or-35__30869.jpg One of the added advantages of this type of fountain is that it is easy to transport and does not require a large vehicle to deliver it.

Despite the recent increased cost of this raw material, copper remains an exceptional option for your fountain if you can afford it. Use cast stone to make a dazzling fountain resembling the traditional Mediterranean wall fountains usually found in Italy, Spain, and France. These molded, cast stone concrete features are exceptionally sturdy and suitable to be placed on the floor against a wall. Built in the USA due to high shipping costs, they are generally available in a variety of colors.

Townspeople are also driven to the fountains for their intricate styles and flowing water, gathering there to engage in prayer or even to make wishes. Water fountains also serve as an place to gather for talking and socializing, as seen in Delphi at the Castalia temple.

Things to Keep in Mind When Picking a Fountain

One of the first things to consider when choosing a water fountain is exactly where you plan to put it. Any high-traffic spots such as driveways, entryways, or roundabouts are perfect spots to install one.

If you want to put yours against a wall, there are fountains designed specifically for this purpose. Normally, they have something on the back of them like a hook or a bar with which you can use to affix them to a wall, post, or some other secure place. Since the top part of your fountain is not stable on its own, make certain that it is secure against a wall to avoid damage caused by strong winds, wild animals, or other natural threats.

In open-air places like parks where visitors tend to sit and relax for a few minutes, you will notice one other option – the garden sculpture style.

Gardens of Chatworth: The Revelation Garden Fountain

Created by celebrated British sculptor Angela Conner, "Revelation" is the most recent addition to the Chatsworth decorative outdoor fountains. In 2004/5 she was commissioned by the late 11th Duke of Devonshire to design a limited edition bust of Queen Elizabeth, in brass and steel, for the Queen’s 80th birthday bash. In 1999 Revelation was mounted in Jack Pond, one of Chatsworth’s earliest ponds. It takes the form of four big petals made of steel which opens and closes with the water movement, alternatively hiding and exposing a golden globe at the sculpture’s heart. The sculpture’s proportions are five meters in height by five meters in width and incorporates a metallic globe finished with gold dust. The flower petals move depending on the movement of water, making this installation an interesting addition to the Gardens of Chatsworth.
