Gardens of Chatworth and the "Revelation" Water Feature

Designed by celebrated British sculptor Angela Conner, "Revelation" is the most recent addition to the Chatsworth decorative exterior fountains. pd_156__80508.jpg She was commissioned by the now deceased 11th Duke of Devonshire to create a limited edition bust of Queen Elizabeth, in 2004/5 in commemoration of the Queen’s 80th birthday celebration. In 1999 Revelation was set up in Jack Pond, one of Chatsworth’s first ponds. Taking the form of four big petals which open and close with the circulation of water, the metallic water feature alternately conceals and reveals a golden globe at the heart of the sculpture. A steel globe decorated with gold dust was integrated into the sculpture, which rests five meters high and five meters in width. The petals move depending on the circulation of water, making this installation an interesting addition to the Gardens of Chatsworth.

Make Everyday Life Better with a Water Fountain

Having a fountain around can improve your day-to-day life as the soothing sound of the water provides a sense of tranquility, and the movement of the water serves to clean and moisten the air.

There are many positive aspects to having an interior or outdoor water fountain which you may not even understand. All over the world coastal cities have large populations which may perhaps be linked to the fact that the human body consists largely of water. While you could invest in an expensive beach house or jump in the ocean every day to experience the benefits of water, getting a water feature is much easier and less costly!

Improve any outdoor area by adding a beautiful outdoor garden fountain. However lovely it already is, your site will be even more stunning if you add an outdoor water feature from the wide variety available. It can be hung on the outside wall of your house above the patio, or even on the interior wall of a screened porch. Your flower garden will become a place of luxurious decadence and serenity if you put in a tiered version. You will notice lots of birds coming to your garden if you install a birdbath fountain, as the water stays fresher than still water since it is constantly flowing. The final detail your garden area needs to be an oasis of serenity is the sound of water in motion.

Garden Fountains: Ideal for your Company

Build business results with a garden fountain. A pretty one will make your business space feel comforting and welcoming. Unlike home fountains, outdoor fountains installed in business settings should both welcome visitors and leave a lasting impact on everyone who sees them.

Create a little piece of nature in small outdoor spaces by putting in eye-catching garden water fountains, beautiful trees and bushes, and other attractive landscaping. On the other hand, many corporate areas have lots of clear space to go all out and create an alluring garden display. Some companies, though, have to make due with a small area.

New customers who have a good impression of your business is really the aim in this case. Installing an inviting garden fountain can be your secret weapon to acquiring new customers.

The Effect of the Norman Conquest on Anglo Saxon Gardens

The Anglo-Saxon way of life was considerably changed by the arrival of the Normans in the later eleventh century. The ability of the Normans exceeded the Anglo-Saxons' in architecture and farming at the time of the conquest. Still, home life, household architecture, and decoration were out of the question until the Normans taken over the entire populace. Castles were more standard designs and often erected on blustery hills, where their tenants devoted both time and space to exercising offense and defense, while monasteries were major stone buildings, mostly positioned in the widest, most fruitful hollows. The tranquil method of gardening was impractical in these dismal bastions. Berkeley Castle is probably the most intact model in existence at present of the early Anglo-Norman form of architecture. The keep is said to date from William the Conqueror's time period. A spacious terrace meant for exercising and as a means to stop attackers from mining below the walls runs around the building.

A picturesque bowling green, enveloped in grass and enclosed by battlements cut out of an ancient yew hedge, creates one of the terraces.

Fountains Which Have More Than One Tier

Fountains with more than one level are very easy to find, and common particularly in gardens. Mediterranean countries such as Italy and Spain traditionally have many tiered fountains. Typical places to spot them are in courtyards and piazzas. Beautiful carvings can be found on some of the most lavish tiered fountains, while others have less complex designs.

Any area can be enhanced with one, even though a more traditional setting is sometimes more appropriate. The fountain should blend right into the setting as if it has been there since the outset.

The Countless Designs of Wall Water Fountains

If you want to have a place to relax as well as add some flair to a small area such as a patio or courtyard, wall fountains are ideal because they do not take up much space. Traditional, antique, modern, or Asian are just some of the designs you can choose from when looking for an outdoor wall fountain to your liking. Your tastes determine the type you buy so while there may not be a prefabricated fountain to satisfy you, you do have the option of having a custom made one.

Depending on your needs, you can select from mounted or freestanding types. Small, self-contained mounted wall fountains can be hung on any surface. One of the most important aspects of wall fountains is that they be light, so they are typically made of fiberglass or resin to replicate the look of stone. Large-sized free-standing wall fountains, often referred to as floor fountains, have their basins located on the floor and a smooth side leaning on a wall. Water features such as these are typically manufactured of cast stone and have no weight restrictions.

Many qualified landscapers prefer custom-built fountains which can be integrated into a brand-new wall or an existing one. Hiring an expert mason is your best option to construct the basin and install the necessary plumbing. You will need to integrate a spout or fountain mask into the wall. If you want a cohesive look for your garden, get a customized wall fountain because it becomes part of the panorama rather than an afterthought.

The Interesting Origin of the Water Wall Fountain

Hundreds of ancient Greek records were translated into Latin under the auspices of the scholarly Pope Nicholas V who led the Roman Catholic Church from 1397 to 1455. While the translations were completed, fresh drinking water was delivered to the metropolis from a distance of 8 miles via the damaged Acqua Vergine aqueduct, after its restoration began in 1453. In addition, he re-started the Roman tradition of marking the terminal point of an aqueduct with a mostra, a commemorative water feature with a unique appearance. Architect Leon Alberti was ordered to develop a wall fountain, a undertaking which grew in size and scope until it became the celebrated Trevi Fountain of Rome. Wall fountains have their beginnings in Pope Nicholas V's ambition to influence Christianity and at the same time improve Rome's water supply.
