Chatsworth Gardens and the "Revelation" Water Fountain

ft-308__24020.jpg Angela Conner, the famous British sculptor, designed “Revelation,” the most recent acquisition to the ornamental exterior fountains of Chatsworth. In 2004/2005 she was commissioned by the late 11th Duke of Devonshire to design a limited edition bust of Queen Elizabeth, in brass and steel, for the Queen’s 80th birthday bash. In 1999 Revelation was placed in Jack Pond, one of Chatsworth’s first ponds. It takes the form of four big flower petals made from steel which open and close with the water flow, alternately hiding and exposing a gold colored globe at the sculpture’s center. A gold dust painted steel globe was manufactured and incorporated to the big sculpture standing five meters in height and five meters wide. This newest water fountain is an intriguing and interesting addition to the Gardens of Chatsworth, unique in that the movement of the petals is totally driven by water.

Nowadays you can just place your garden water fountain against a wall since they no longer need to be hooked to a pond. In addition, it is no longer necessary to excavate, deal with a difficult installation process or tidy up the pond. Due to the fact that this feature is self-contained, no plumbing is necessary. Adding water on a frequent} basis is essential, however. Empty the water from the bowl and place fresh water in its place when you see that the area is unclean.

You can easily perk up your outdoor area with these types of fountains.

A wall fountain can contribute a great deal of charm, even to modern living areas. Does your home or business have a restricted amount of space? A wall water fountain is perhaps the best choice for you. You can save your limited space by hanging one on a wall. Busy entryways in corporate buildings are often adorned with one of these types of fountains. Wall fountains can be put up outdoors as well. Fiberglass and resin are ideal materials to use for outdoor wall water features. Liven up your terrace, courtyard, or other outdoor areas with a water fountain made of these weather-proof materials.

Wall fountains come in a bunch of varying styles covering the modern to the traditional and rustic. Your decoration plans determine the most appropriate kind for your needs. The kind of material used depends on the type of space which needs to be decorated such as slate for a traditional lodge or sleek glass for a modern residence. Your individual design plans determine the material you select. No doubt however, fountains are sure to add to your quality of life and wow your visitors.

The Many Construction Materials of Garden Fountains

Most modern garden fountains come in metal, although various other types exist. Those made from metals have clean lines and unique sculptural elements, and are flexible enough to fit any budget and decor. It is essential that your landscape design reflects the style of your home.

Today, many people favor copper for their sculptural garden fountains. Copper is used in cascade and tabletop water fountains as well as various other styles, making it versatile enough for inside and outside fountains. Copper fountains also come in a vast array of styles - from fun and eccentric to modern and cutting-edge.

Brass water fountains are also popular, although they tend to have a more conventional look than copper ones. Though not the most modern, the creatures and sculptural features you find on fountains are commonly made of brass, thus making them very popular.

Most folks today see stainless steel as the most modern option. For an immediate increase in the value and comfort of your garden, get one of the contemporary steel designs. Like all water fountains, you can get them in just about any size you want.

Fiberglass is a widely used material for fountains because you can get the look and feel of metal at a much lower price, and it is lighter weight and easier to move than metal. Keeping a fiberglass water fountain clean and working well is quite simple, another aspect consumers like.

The Benefits of Pond Fountains

The immense spectacular ones that are found in front of nice buildings and in public squares are what one tends to think of when imagining a fountain. However, they can really suit any decor, as they can be made in just about any shape, size, and design. You might even find a place in your own garden area for a lovely pond fountain.

Two primary benefits can result from installing one of your own. One is the feeling of calm and loveliness that fountains contribute. What better way to wind down than to listen to the trickle of water and experience its tranquility. You will see your area benefitting from its elegance, too. What’s more, your lovely fountain will fascinate your guests and you will find your parties more engaging.

The other reason to put in this type of water element is to keep the water in your pond cleaner for your fish. Fish are a lot better off if their water is circulating around and getting oxygen, and a pond fountain will do both of those things. Your fish will be around a longer time because of the constantly circulating, aerated water. You should see heartier plant life too.

The Advantages of a Wall Fountain in your Reception Area

If you have ever seen a water feature in a doctor’s waiting room, you recognize the positive effect it has on your surroundings and your mental state. Perhaps you have even considered adding one in your own workplace. You may be in the process of decorating a new or revamped showroom, medical office, tax office, or health spa, not to mention other types of businesses, where one could enhance the ambiance of the waiting room.

Waiting for a long period of time for an appointment or a meeting usually makes people anxious. They begin to nervously look at the clock while thinking about everything they should be doing. Clients or patients may disregard extended waiting times when they are distracted by the sound of a water wall fountain. Your patients or visitors may feel calmer and more serene surrounded by the sound and appearance of slowly moving water.

Either the air conditioning or the heat is turned on in reception areas when the weather changes. The environment is generally dry in such conditions. Water from your wall fountain will gradually evaporate, letting off the right amount of moisture into the air but not enough to make the atmosphere uncomfortably damp. This kind of atmosphere will be of benefit to both you and the personnel who are in the office all day. You can become more prone to health issues because the dry air impacts the mucous membranes in your body. Furthermore, it causes dry lips and skin as well as irritated eyes, lifeless hair, and frail nails. One of the advantages of water fountains is that they are very good natural humidifiers.

Wall water fountains also contribute to a sense of peacefulness because they muffle irritating sounds. The clatter of medical equipment, phones, faxes, or office clamor is not pleasant to the ear. Displeasing noises will not be completely drowned out but they will not be as disturbing to your guests.

Fountains also contribute to a nice environment and make a good impression. Investing in this kind of water fountain could give you the competitive edge you need. Moreover, by adding the name of your business or its logo on a water fountain can become a helpful marketing tool.

The Cascade Fountain at Chatsworth Garden

Forming a dramatic main feature to the landscape at the back of Chatsworth House is the Cascade garden fountain. Twenty-four irregularly positioned stone steps reach down the hillside for 200 yards in the direction of the house. Entirely gravity fed, the Cascade too is founded on a 17th century French design. Created for the first Duke of Devonshire in 1696, this water fountain has continued unmodified ever since. At the peak of the fountain, from which water flows downward, stands the Cascade House. Marine creatures in bas-relief beautify the outside of the residence which is a small construction. Prior to proceeding down the Cascade, on important occasions water pressure to the Cascade can easily be boosted, causing the Cascade House to become part of the Cascade display, as water runs through channel on its roof and from the jaws of its carved marine creatures. Providing a fantastic and relaxing complement to a stroll through the landscape, the minor difference in size of each step means that the sound of the water cascading downward fluctuates as it falls along the Cascades. Back in 2004, Chatsworth's Cascade was chosen by historians at Country Life as the best water feature in England.
